Preparing your property for sale
In many cases, the visual appeal of your property directly reflects the interest of potential buyers. Intuitively, buyer's are more likely to make fair offers on properties that appear clean, updated, and structurally sound. As the seller, there are several steps you can take to improve the visual appeal to your property prior to and during the selling process. We share some information below on what you can to do enhance the visual appeal of your property.

ENHANCE YOUR PROPERTIES

INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR APPEAL

Interior

  • Clean every room and remove any clutter. This will make your home appear larger and brighter!
  • Remove items from bathroom and kitchen counter tops. The less distractions, the better.
  • Repainting strongly marked walls or bright colors to neutral tones will improve visual appeal.
  • Check and repair cracks or any signs of dampness from the basement and attic.
  • Fill any large holes and repair any broken sheet rock. The less damage, the better.

Exterior

  • Check sidewalks, foundations, and decking for any signs of ageing or hazards. Correct any issues.
  • Inspect doors and windows for peeling paint.
  • Inspect and clean the chimney.
  • Repair any loose or damaged shingles.
  • Keep sidewalks clear of any debris to prevent accidents.
  • Add flowers to exterior of home to enhance curb appeal.
  • Keep the garage door closed.
  • Add a fresh coat of paint to the front door if necessary.
  • Replace bulbs in outside lights so they all are functioning.

Showing on Short Notice
Although we try to give as much advanced notice as possible, sometimes you may have a buyer interested in touring your home but very little time to prepare your home for a showing. We recommend you try to keep your home as clean as possible once it is listed. However, we completely understand that sometimes houses just get messy! To help you tidy up, we put together a checklists of tasks to help you get your home ready for a showing in one hour.
